In August 2020, Paul Martins became Australia’s first Chief Economic Development Officer, with Moreton Bay Regional Council in Queensland. His key responsibilities are to establish the Economic Development function inside Council, as well as implement Moreton Bay’s Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS), which sets a bigger, bolder and brighter future for the region to 2041.
Paul has a mixture of private and public-sector experience. Most recently Paul was Head of Economic Development for Sunshine Coast Council where his team supported more than 3000 businesses annually and over the last 6 years facilitated the creation or ongoing employment of more that 15,000 jobs: achieved $3.3 billion in regional economic impact: and sponsored more than 300 major tourism and sporting events providing an ROI of $32:$1.
The Samford & Districts Chamber of Commerce meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. The venue for the breakfast is The Flying Nun Café in Station Street Samford. In addition to a guest speaker, the breakfast offers a “wake-up” complimentary coffee at 6.45am, followed at 7.00am by a legendary cooked breakfast and a selection of fruit and pastries for just $27.50 per head for members, and $30 per head for guests and visitors. The meeting concludes at 8.30am.
